Founder of a communication agency in Paris, artistic director in event organization, frequent traveler, and certified professional coach, David created Amanaska in 2009 in Bali with the desire to offer different programs. He has now lived in Bali for over 12 years and accompanies many travelers in this quest for authenticity and simplicity.

Between Mexico, Egypt, and Mauritius, Mélisande has always prioritized human relations and encounters, sometimes atypical; she has always been curious, ready to try and explore. Her various professional experiences have developed in her a desire to share her own conception of travel, which must be fair, respectful, generous, and benevolent.

Trainer, facilitator in art therapy, mindfulness meditation, yoga teacher, and certified professional coach, Sandrine has lived in Bali for over 8 years and created the Wellness department at Amanaska several years ago to develop retreats centered on well-being and programs around personal development & returning to oneself, specifically addressed to women.

Explore Sumatra in adventure mode, searching for orangutans as well as the last Asian elephants, and go to meet the Batak people and the Mentawai tribe.
David and/or Mélisande (depending on the dates) accompany you for an exceptional program, the possibility to discover the island’s most beautiful landscapes, share authentic moments with local communities, and live unique experiences in the heart of an island that is still preserved.
We switch to nomad version through this edition, in the very heart of Sumatra, which will cross the jungle, the tropical forest, and isolated villages to reach the sea and a people unique in the world who still maintain ancestral preserved traditions, the Mentawai tribe.

Day 1
Meet in Sumatra at Kuala Namu International Airport in Medan, where you will be welcomed by a member of the Amanaska team, who will accompany you to your hotel…
Day 2
Meet with Mélisande Davergne and/or David Mothe before taking the road to Tangkahan, home to the Asian elephant sanctuary.
Day 3
Departure for Gunung Leuser National Park for a trek to discover the fauna and flora of Sumatra.
Day 4
We continue toward Bukit Lawang, located in the only jungle in the world where orangutans, tigers, elephants, and rhinoceroses live together.
Day 5
It is time to reach the Karo highland region, situated at an altitude of over 1,300 meters, where one of the five Batak ethnic groups resides.
Day 6 & 7
Discovery of the world’s largest volcanic lake region and the Batak culture on Samosir.
Day 8
We reach Parapat by ferry, heading toward the Sipaholon hot springs.
Day 9
We transition from mountainous landscapes to the tropical jungle of Padang Sidempuan until we reach Bukittinggi, where the Minangkabau matriarchal society awaits us.
Day 10
We will explore Harau National Park, passing through the impressive Sianok Canyon.
Day 11
We are now in the Padang region, which will allow us to take the ferry to Siberut Island to meet the Mentawai people.
Day 12 & 13
Immersion into the daily life of a fragile people whose culture and traditions struggle against modernism and the Western spirit.
Day 14
It is time to close this timeless chapter with a return ferry trip, followed by a transfer to Padang airport according to your flight schedule.

The SAYA program invites you to return to yourself, to reconnect with your breath, your body, and your voice, to be inspired by the Balinese Hindu philosophy of life, and to experience spiritual immersions, mindfulness activities, and self-discovery on the island of Bali.
This unique program is an invitation to rediscover your intuitive nature, awaken your senses, open up to more gentleness, release your creative energy, feel, breathe, and live more in the present moment in contact with the group and the inhabitants.

Day 3
Departure from Sanur for Balinese discoveries, ending the day with a mindfulness meditation in the unique Sidemen region.
Day 4
Mindful walk through the rice fields and a sensory workshop to express your spontaneous nature, your creativity, and cultivate self-confidence.
Day 5
A Hindu temple and ancient rice terraces are on the agenda for this day in contact with Mother Nature.
Day 6
A free day at your own pace in the Ubud region.
Day 7
Reconnect with your deeper nature with a Hatha yoga session and a purification ceremony with a priestess.
Day 8
Self-expression with a yoga session, a dance & sensory workshop, and a sharing circle to share, release, dare to be.

Amanaska organised a three-week family holiday in Bali for us, which will remain etched in our memories forever.
What did we love? EVERYTHING! From the quality of our discussions with David, the agency’s founder, as we planned our bespoke tour of the island – avoiding the overly touristy traps – to the selection of charming hotels blending tradition and modernity, right through to our guide and driver, who were always so attentive and knew the route inside out.
We particularly enjoyed the opportunities to meet Balinese families and discover their way of life, arts and traditions in an intimate and personalised way (cooking classes, dance lessons in a magical school, making our own kites, visiting a village with its nursery school, and so on).
And what can we say about the kindness and hospitality of the Balinese people? That first glimpse made us want to come back.

I wanted to visit the real Bali, not the one overrun by mass tourism, and the agency understood this straight away. We discovered a wonderful culture and met some very kind and welcoming people. The trip alternated between sightseeing and sporting challenges for my older teenagers (aged 16 to 20). We watched the sunrise over the volcano and went on a bike ride through the rice fields. We even helped the locals replant rice. Our French-speaking guide was absolutely brilliant. The driver was very kind and incredibly skilful in this world of lawless roads…

A big thank you to the Amanaska team for organising our three-week trip to Bali. Right from our first discussions, David put together an itinerary that perfectly matched our expectations: exploring the local culture and traditional sites whilst avoiding the crowds, a variety of activities to discover the island’s beauty, a pace suited to our family (children aged 11 and 15) and always an excellent choice of hotels. Thanks also to our guide and driver, who played a part in making this trip such a success. We simply went with the flow for three weeks and were able to enjoy our stay to the full.
David organised an absolutely perfect, tailor-made trip for us. We managed to avoid the crowds, which is a real feat in August. We discovered authentic places and people without missing out on the must-see attractions. David put together a trip that struck the perfect balance between relaxation and exploration.

It was almost a month of enjoyable moments, visits, breaks, etc., at a pace that suited us perfectly, and it was a trip that lived up to our expectations and desires.
I would just like to mention one small drawback: it would have been handy to have a personalised travel guide providing a comprehensive overview of the itinerary, activities, hotels (including the number of rooms) – in short, covering the whole month. Given our programme, I found this to be missing. I’m used to having this on similar road trips in other countries.
